Q: I've found the computer I want to buy from Toshiba but can't seem to buy it from Toshiba directly. I can get it online from Wal-Mart and in a Radio Shack store but not at Toshiba. The model before it (there's only a little difference in the amount of memory and about $30) is available from Toshiba, but not the one I want. Is this common or am I doing something wrong? I'm a little hesitant because to buy from a third party. I've heard that when you buy a computer from a store the warranty begins when the computer is shipped from the factory, not when I buy it. So if the computer has been sitting on the shelf since July and I buy it in September, I only have 10 months on my warranty instead of 12 months. Is this true? Also, what kind of software will I need? It comes with Microsoft (Vista, of course) Works and a 60 day trial of Home Basic. I really just need Word, Power Point would be nice but not a necessity, so which program would that be a part of; Works or Home? Thanks for your help! I appreciate it very much!
A: The warranty info is true for Dell computers, not sure about Toshiba. You will have to buy MS Office. MS Works has a spread sheet, word processor and database program. It iis useful for most people's needs. But to get PP you will need to buy the student edition of MS office. Then yiu can put it on 3 computers in your house.
