Q: the laptop was purchase in june 2005, and now, without the power plug the battery seems to go pretty fast. it wasnt used a lot for a long time, and was off when not used. in the past year, the use of it has doubled. in the past 7 or 8 minutes its gone from 64-59% how can i extend or improve the battery life? thank u!

A: Batteries are like tires - they have a charge that goes down over time. You can't make that percentage any better at this time but you can try and keep it at that and make it run the best. First, only plug in the laptop when it has NO battery power- like basically right before or when it shuts down. Second, turn down brightness and stuff when running on battery. Try and reduce the number of programs you use - if you need like Photoshop and Illustrator open, open one, do what you need, then close it and open the other. That's really it. Eventually all batteries will end up with no charge - and then you have to buy a new one. You can't actually add charge on unfortunately. Wikipiedia has a pretty good article on battery life for all it's worth : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_(electricity)
