Q: I rarely have the sound on my laptop, it's always on mute. But today I needed it on, and I left it on, and now every so often it makes this bird noise! It's not an e-mail warning or an IM warning or anything. Does anyone know what it could be? Cheers! Sorry for being so stupid if it is something obvious.
A: This is the sound (in XP at least) that tells you that a program (visible or that is running in the background) has finished something. Go to Start / Control Panel / Sound and... / Sounds / click on any of them and click on the little triangle below to listen to it; find it and remove it.
