A: yes, the prices are different. i think this is bec that sony sg has to ship these products from usa to asia just to distribute it, their price includes added expenses from this distribution. in the usa, sony usually competes with a lot more laptop makers than in asia, which has a far smaller market than the usa. if i were you, i'd buy from sony.com in the usa; bec it is much cheaper. and if you buy from sony.com, you can customize your laptop, which is limited i think when you buy from singapore. try to compare sony hongkong, i do know that they usually cheaper than singapore's sony. if you buy a sony vaio, buy a unit that has at least 2gb of ram, esp with vista. and a faster hard drive, something with 7200rpm hard drive. you don't really need a large hard drive, bec you always have a fast connection in singapore. the price of a very good laptop would be somewhere in the price range of US$2,000.00. it is a bit steep; but it will last you for the next 4 years. on the other hand, it is still not a good time to buy right now. bec microsoft is making windows 7, to replace windows vista. and it will be released in 2010. so if you buy right now, you might get stuck with the hardware, which might not be compatible with windows 7 - just what happens to many laptop buyers before who bought laptops with the vista capable logo. if i bought a new pc, i always buy something that i am sure will last me at least 4 years. there is no reason to spend so much money which won't last 4 years, at least.
