Q: Now it only came with 40gb, and i've searched and searched for a compatible HDD over 100gb with no luck. I'm not very computer savvy so I was wondering if someone could help me finding a compatible HDD that I could buy that would be oer 100gb if my notebook could handle it. Also, what's the difference between ATA and SATA and RPM. Like I'll see some drives for the same amount of gb but different RPM's. According to the Specs: HDD ATA/100 hard disc drive
A: RPM is Revolutions Per Minute. If it's spinning faster it can read/write the information faster but generates more heat and (usually) uses more power. SATA is Serial ATA (a newer type of connection) and ATA is Parallel ATA - also called PATA or ATA-IDE (older type of connection) You need to make sure the connection type (interface type) is compatible - whether it's SATA or ATA. I can't find specs on which the Acer Travelmate 2400 uses so I suggest taking it to a computer shop...also, since you're not familiar with the types of drive connections and many companies use special adapters, I assume you wouldn't be able to identify what you need by looking at it and it's easy to break a pin off and ruin the whole thing if you do it wrong.
