I have an acer aspire 3680. I had to reinstall Windows Vista. It does not have a wireless network anymore?

Q: After i reinstalled Vista. I went to find a wireless signal from our router but it does not even have the wireless network anymore. They have Dial up and Po... for the Broadband. How would I get back my wireless setting. Please Help me.

A: Did you reinstall Vista or Format and reinstall or use the recovery partition? Here are four options for you to try - The most obvious is have you switched the wireless device on? It is either a slide button or one of the F keys (e.g. you would press the Fn button and perhaps the F2) the F key will have an aerial symbol on it. If you reinstalled over the existing installation you may find in your "My Computer" a folder called Windows Old, in there your old drivers are still available. Just press the Windows Logo Key (on the keyboard) and E, look in the Local Disk (C:) and see if its there. If so at the top of the same page that opened click on System Properties, open Device Manager from the list on the left. Look to see if there is either a network device or unknown device short of its driver (it will have a ? in a yellow circle). Double click it and it will open the properties box, choose update driver, get it to navigate to Windows Old, open it into Windows, then System32 and then OK and it will search all the files and folders within it, it should find the right ones and load the drivers straight away. If you used the Recovery Partition then the Windows Old folder isnt there so you need to look for a folder called DRVS, the wireless drivers are in there, but if you did a System Recovery it should have loaded the drivers anyway. Last option is to use the network cable that came with your wireless router, plug it into one of the sockets on the back of the router and then the other end into the computer socket, it only fits one socket and only one way round. That will allow an internet connection by cable then go to http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3680.html and download the wireless drivers. Note there are 5 different drivers available so see if the label on the underneath will give you a clue as to which one you need to install. All wireless devices require a conformity sticker so the manufacturer at least will be shown on the label
