Q: what price would be good for a laptop needed for everday use. what price did you buy your laptop for?
A: Probably anything between $600 and $1100 depending on the use you have in mind. Like if it's just office work and taking notes or such, you can get a system that'll do just fine for $500-600. If you need it for maybe video editing or gaming (laptop gaming is never really a replacement for a desktop but it'll do sometimes), you'll probably be looking more in the $700-1100 range. I myself just bought an ASUS M51S for school last week, and decided to spend the extra money on it because I like to play games between lectures sometimes, it was one of the few laptops with a decent non-onboard GPU for that price, and it'll last me a good three years or so at least. Don't forget future purchases when considering this: why buy a $600 laptop now if you'll only be frustrated and sick of how outdated it'll be in a year when a $1000 one will last you two at least? PS I've heard some real horror stories about HP laptop hardware, so I'd suggest avoiding HP or Dell (overpriced) and looking at Acer, ASUS, etc or any of the Japanese brands (kinda overpriced though)
