A: The best way to do this is to pick up a 2.5" USB hard drive enclosure from a local computer store. Cost $5 - $35. Insert the drive in to the enclosure and plug it in to the USB port of a working computer. The data will appear as an additional drive letter. i.e. g: Copy it onto another drive for safe keeping.
