Q: I recently purchased an HP laptop that has a battery life of about 5 hours. I want to keep the battery in the best condition possible so I am wondering if it is better to plug my computer into the wall when I near one regardless of how much battery life is left. Or do I let the battery run low each time before charging it?? Thanks
A: Well, if it's convenient just pull the battery out once you plug it in and know you will be plugged in for a while. A lot of newer batteries don't have memories so you don't have to drain them prior to charging, but lithium-ion batteries, which is what most new batteries are usually lose their capacity very fast after about a year of use, that's just the unfortunate things about a batteries.
