Q: My laptop is brand new 1 day old and its heating on 1 side and the bottom and the other side is normal idk why its happening! Please someone help!!!
A: The "hot side" is the side where the CPU is at... It's normal for one side to be warmer than the other. Many laptops have their "air intake" on the bottom of the PC. If you put the laptop on a soft surface like you LAP, bed, pillow, (even a table cloth on a table) etc, it blocks the air inflow so that the cooling fan can not properly cool the PC. Make sure that the pc is on a flat, firm surface so that it can get proper air flowing in. It will STILL feel warm on the one side, but it shouldn't be "burning hot" as you describe it. Some PC's have much better cooling than others (IBM seems to have "gotten it right" with the 61 series laptops) Also, if you have an AMD processor, it will run a LOT warmer than an Intel Core 2 Duo system does. The chips simply draw a lot more power than a Core 2. Also, some manufacturer's design the systems to run awfully warm before the cooling fan kicks in, in an attempt to make the battery last longer, since the fan isn't running as often or as fast, there is less power-drain on the battery, increasing the battery life.
