Q: i bought 2 gigs of ram (ddr2) today and installed them on my dell E1505 inspiron, before i only had 512 of ram. how can i find out, if my computer took the new ram just fine, and also if it didn't what must i do to make sure it does? it asked me to reset the memory before it fully booted up what must i do?
A: If the system is booting, odds are it took fine. There's no settings you need to change when you replace the RAM. When the system initially turns on, it POSTs (Power On Self Test), and on this screen it should show you the amount of RAM in the system (2 Gigs = 2,048MB, 2,097,152KB). You can also look in System Properties (Right click My Computer and click Properties, or Start, Run, sysdm.cpl, Enter.)
