Q: Is there any way to prevent it from running so hot? It isn't even on for very long, 4 or 5 minutes, before it heats up, and the fan is always running. What can I do?
A: the most common cause of a computer heating up too quickly is blocked vents this slows down air flow inside and causes the fans to work harder to cool the components down desktop open side case and vacuum the motherboard (whilst the computer is turned off) and also vaccum tower fan and grill laptop if you know what you are doing then open it up and do the same as a desktop and clean the motherboard and fans the same way but as its more tricky to open a laptop then a solution is a can of compressed air will do the trick buy one from any hardware store and blast out the vents at the bottom and side this will get rid of built of dirt and crud that accumulates over time and make the laptop run cooler if this fails to help then update your BIOS as it will redefine the operating temperatures hope this helps
