Where to buy a laptop?

Q: Where is a good place to buy a laptop for a good price( new, used, refurbished). Also on the free laptop pop ups, what are the promo codes if you know them.

A: First, there are no free laptops... Unless it's a present from a friend or relative... Ebay can be a good source for used laptops, (I'm getting ready to list my spare myself) watch the seller's feedback rating, Keep in mind if the seller says "battery untested not guaranteed" *assume* the battery won't hold a charge and you might have to replace it. It might not be, but just assume it's weak. You can usually get a better deal in a store than online with most manufacturer's, especially if you don't need the "latest and greatest" and willing to watch for a sale, or even a discontinued model. Many stores like Staples, Office Depot, Office max will have 1-off specials that are not advertised. If it's the "floor model" insist on a discount, I know Office Max will give you 10% off the sale price if it's the last one of a discontinued model, but they won't tell you that unless you ask. Watch out for the "walmarts" and other low-volume retailers... many of those PC's are outdated without the proper discounts that should be expected on a "6 month old, almost ready to be discontinued" model.
