A: Any chance you could include some links to the laptops you are considering? Also, what games do you like to play? In general, laptops are poor gaming machines as they have slower hard drives, slower memory access and significantly less powerful graphics chipsets. If I was going to get a laptop for gaming, I'd look at the ones from Alienware (now owned by Dell). http://www.alienware.com/ Specifically, look at the m15x (as it has the mobile version of the Nvidia 8800 GTX). http://www.alienware.com/products/area-51-m15x-notebook.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-AREA51M15X-AI1&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT Luckily, these happen to make great machines for doing coursework as well as gaming. ** edit ** OK, then for $1500, look at the base Area-51 m9750 for $1399 http://www.alienware.com/customize/area-51-m9750-notebook.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-AREA51M9750&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT Then go to Newegg and buy a 4GB RAM kit (Alienware truly is ripping people off for the memory upgrades.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010260381+1309121118+1309221136&name=DDR2+667+(PC2+5300) Any of those will do, but Corsair, Mushkin, and G.Skill are good names.
