Q: I've been looking for Iaptops recently and this dawned on me. All the laptops seem to have Intel processors in them and no AMD ones. Even though AMD ones beat Intel on benchmark tests (doesn't necessarily mean there better). I'm just abit baffled about it. the only reason i can come up with is that Intel have done a deal with laptop manufacturers to only use Intel. Your opinions? Thanks This may be just a UK thing, i haven't searched for laptops outside UK. When i say all laptops, i mean about 90% of them. I thought that it would be about 50 50 due to the competition being so tight. Intel doesn't shadow AMD, nor vise versa. Just curious really
A: They do not. I have seen plenty of laptops with AMD processors. The reason that MOST laptops have intel processors is because intel processors have better ppw (Performance per Watt) than the likes of AMDs or PowerPc chips. This means that laptops can conserve more battery life.
