Q: I have a laptop which uses a wireless connection to connect to the internet. it used to work absolutely fine until a few days ago, where the connectivity will just stop or become very low, either way this cuts the internet off. when this happens, i have to disable the wireless, then enable it again, this seems to work for about 5-10mins until it happens again! what's going on? please help i have no idea, and this is becoming very annoying!
A: Hi, I have had this problem before Myself, it is to do with the internet connection that you are using. I'm guessing it is Broadband. Try using an Ethernet lead from the back of the wireless unit, to your laptop, this will provide a direct connection, and accurate. That should help slightly. Always remember to turn off the wireless transmitter whilst it is not in use, as this will prevent it from overheating, malfunctioning, and allow it chance to cool down. Something we always do. There should be a signal strengh displayed in green bars, a percentage figure, and a short description such as "Fair", "Good", "Poor" or "Excellent". This will define that signal quality whilst connected to the internet. I must agree, it isn't always convinient using a wired connection, as you can not walk around too much, or use it upstairs as easily. But What I do, is keep a Spare 10 metre ethernet lead in my wardrobe, then if there are ever connection problems, I can connect manually. Good Luck. GDJ.
