What kind of laptop should I get?

Q: I already have a kicka$$ Desktop I use for gaming, Photo Shop, Maya, and all my video editing... But I need to get a Laptop to do that stuff out and about with. Basically I need a laptop that would be able to run: PhotoShop, Maya (and other 3D programs), After Effects, Vegas, and on occasion some games but not completely necessary (though any gamer would understand my temptations for wanting a portable gaming rig) I want to have either 15-17 inch of screen space with great resolution. So far I am looking at the Dell XPS M1730... but I heard the power supply makes it nearly impossible for portability. If anyone knows of any other laptops I might be interested in from any other companies please let me know! Thanks I just graduated from the Art Institute OC as a Game Art and Design Major... so my main concerns is that this laptop can allow me to run my 3D applications smoothly and allow for decent Render times. I am also a PC user who is trying really hard to stay away from the Mac zone... its too foreign for me. I want to keep it easy to jump from my Desktop to my Laptop oh ya and my budget is to keep it under $2,700 ok im thinking of going with a HPdv7t tricked out to $2,075 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz) 17.0" diagonal WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1680 x 1050) 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support ------------------------------------------------------------ Every other laptop I've customized so far winds up costing almost 600 bucks more than this one and has less features. And HP has never let me down in terms of quality... thoughts?

A: I would recommend an HP laptop hands down! I would purchase the laptop at Wal Mart or Circuit City. I have had many experiences with this as I am a very picky person where electronics are concerned. My maoney is precious to me as it is to most of us, so I try 'em, and if I don't like 'em, I return 'em until I find exactly what I like. HP, Wal Mart, and Circuit City have been my best experiences. I have tried Dell, Gateway, HP, eMachines, and Acer computers, and HP are at the top of my list, followed by Gateway.
