Q: I have a F767NR Comaq notebook. I have a Panasonic PV-GS19 mini DV camcorder. Looks like there is no way at all to transfer the video to my computer. I have been looking at new mini dv recorders, not that I can afford a new one, they all seem to want to use firewire to connect to the PC. I can't connect firewire to my laptop, does this mean I can never transfer any type of video I take with any mini dv camcorder to my PC? I am really upset, this is the main reason I bought this computer, was to transfer my video's to it. Does anyone know of an inexpensive mini DV recoder that can do that to this laptop?? I don't want to waste more money buying another one that wont work. Thanks
A: Buy the DV recorder, you can just buy a Firewire to USB adapter. http://www.newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?DEPA=0&type=&Description=firewire+adapter&Submit=ENE&N=0&Ntk=all&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA Or if you don't want to do that , on your laptop you should have an express card slot. You can also buy an adaptor for that also http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=firewire+to+usb+adapter&cid=10724212865232086924 I would stick with the first one because it is much cheaper, Local computer store should carry this also.
