Q: Sorry I know little about technology, wiki definition isnt too clear and cant find similar questions here on yahoo, Ill give 10 points for the clearest answer. Im wanting to buy a lap top which I can use for uni. I know that I can share the internet connection between a laptop and my desktop which runs on dsl connection. But can I use my internet I use on my home desktop somewhere else like on campus? or does it depend if that area offers some sort of wireless internet. So which do I need for this internet connection? A wireless router? A wireless LAN card built in my laptop? or a Wireless card?
A: Wireless router shares/access network without using wires wireless lan card built in ur laptop, allows u to shares/access dat network without wire. now days every laptop comes with blue tooth & wireless integrated. it means u can connect ur laptop to any blue tooth or wireless device. Wi-Fi is technology used to share resources like internet, files & wireless devices without using wires. now it actually depended on the ISP dat how he will share & grant internet access to his clients. for ex.: u have ur dsl connection which is connected to ur desktop using wires. now what u can do is take a wireless router, configure it, insert main rj45 connection to wireless router instead of connecting to desktop. now ull get wireless connectivity on ur laptop but what abt deskyop. so either u can put wireless card inside the desktop & enjoy Wi-Fi Connectivity on both desktop & laptop as well... OR purchase a simple switch, hub or router. insert main RJ45 in any 3 of these devices. connect ur laptop to hub, switch or router with help of RJ45 connection. do same for desktop & yepee ur internet connection is available for both desktop & laptop. Wired connection r more secure then Wi-Fi. Internet Security products r still unable to give full flesh security for Wi-Fi. In Wi-Fi Zone ull get freedom to access internet anywhere in Zone. but it also improves risk to share ur network with any1 inside the zone.
