Q: My Hp compaq laptop will turn on perfectly fine sometimes, work well and i can access all of my files, but then it will not work other times when I turn it off. Its like i have to wait a few days for it to work again. But eventually it reaches the point to where it turns on, the hardrive starts clicking, and clicking, until the bsod (blue screen of death) shows up. Its really strange. Is there something wrong with my bios (what is it?), or do i need a new hardrive? I have my hardwares all properly installed. Could it be my harddrive dying?
A: It could very well be your hard drive dying... Clicking is usually a bad sign when it's coming from the hard drive. A good reason that you have to leave your laptop alone for a bit for it to work again could be due to the hard drive overheating due to imminent failure.
