Q: Hello, I have a few questions about computers in general, but I am planning on buying a new laptop in the next 2 or 3 years and hopefully when you answer my questions, then you can relate it to laptops. Questions: 1. Is it true that the more GB a laptop (or comp, in general) will recieve less change in lag when you download a big file that has anywhere from 5mb to 5gb? As in, if my comp has 60gb base, will it recieve a slightly more increase in lag than if I had a comp with 250gb base? 2. About how much gb on a laptop can I get for around $2000? Including the laptop, not just the hard drive itself. 3. I pretty much need help about everything about the laptop itself and what's RAM, and stuff like that, so does anyone know a good helpful site that can help me with the things that I don't know. For example, like it explains exactly what is RAM, hard drive, memory and so on of a laptop, so I'm not completely lost when I'm going to be buying one.
A: 1. The hard drive speed move files around faster. 7200rpm is faster than 5400rpm. It doesn't make the download lag or faster, but you'll spend less time moving around stuff. And since you're downloading, internet connection speed is more important than the other minor factors. 2. Laptops top out at about 300GB I think, maybe a 500GB available now or soon. Laptop can be under $1000 with the current max. amount of hard drive space. 3. Some store employees are actually pretty good at explaining. Know what you want and be firm. If someone doesn't know, speak with the area supervisor. I provided a fairly recent link about what to look for in a laptop. Hope you find what you're looking for.
