Q: If I use the recovery cds will it restore Works? I know I will lose all the current settings on my computer. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages to using the system recovery disks? Thanks in advance! (Gateway laptop, T-Series)
A: Recovery disks have their advantages in restoring your computer simply to its shipped state with all additional softwares and packages included in the distribution, you will ofcourse lose all your personal data unless you back it up, and any additional software you installed after clean boot, so make sure you have the software to hand, or know where you acquired it from previous. I prefer to perform a clean install of windows myself and add software i wish manually, this allows me to tweak my system and choose any customised drivers i wish to use allowing me squeeze every ounce of performance from my hardware.
