Q: When It ry and play the cd in a cd player it just says CD-rom but doesn't play any music. When I put it back into the computer it plays fine. What am I doin wrong, I need the cd for a long bring car journey on Friday. Please help Thanks
A: In "My Computer" right click on your CD rom drive and select "Exlpore" The file types should either be .wma or .cda. (If you can't see the file extension, click on Tools->Folder Options then click on the "View Tab" and look at the bottom of that box and you should see "Hide extensions for known file types", you might have to scroll down a bit. Uncheck that box) If they're .mp3 and your CD player doesn't support .mp3, they won't play in your car. Same with .flac, .oog, etc. You'll need to convert the files to .cda before they'll work in your car. Most factory cd in-dash units (most aftermarket, too) don't support anything other than regular cd audio format such as .cda. There are dozens of apps to convert your files. I'm just stupid this morning because I can't remember the one I use all the time. You can google "convert .mp3 to .cda" and you can find quite a few free ones and paid ones. Here's one but I've never tried it. http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html Happy listening
