Q: One of my friends recently purchased an HP Pavilion DV2000 notebook pc. He wanted to know that if you charged your notebook for a long period of time, will this damage the notebook? He said that one of his other friends told him that if you left your laptop on charge for days and days, it can melt the charger's wires and cause internal damages to the laptop. Is this true? Because my friend leaves his notebook charged almost 24/7, just so that anytime he wants to take it somewhere else, he can rely on a fully charged battery. Does extensive charging cause damages like this? Thanks!
A: It shouldn't cause damage but it WILL wear down the battery life. On most laptops you can pull the battery out while it's plugged in. That's what I do. I've never owned an HP Pavilion DV2000 so I can't tell you if the battery is removable. See if you can pop the battery in and out.
