Q: Which brand of laptop is best?
A: Like many questions at Yahoo Answers, you seem to think we're psychic. What is important to you in a laptop? Overall many people pick MacBooks and MacBook Pros because they can run Windows and Mac OS X. They are in the upper range of quality and construction, but maybe not the top in features. Apple regularly wins for the best support in PC and PC World magazine. Next I would probably go with Lenovo ThinkPads. They aren't really great looking, but are well built and reliable. Lenovo has generally maintained IBM quality and even lowered prices. Next probably I would put maybe Toshiba and Sony. Toshiba's tend to be more straightforward and reliable with innovative features. Sony's are a little less reliable, but cooler looking with some nice features. Toshiba and Sony have spotty support records, but not terrible. Next maybe HP. Compaq was good at laptops and HP inherited most from Compaq. Unfortunately support and quality went down a bit after the buyout and HP has never really come back to Compaq's level. Near the bottom I would put Dell. Dell laptops are mostly just cheap. The high end ones are decent, but over-priced and kind of bloated. Their quality is really low compared to most of the other major laptop brands. Their support isn't so great either. The ones I've worked with broke down the fastest, had the most problems and tended to feel slower than other brands. I don't know much about Acer, Fujitsu, Winbook, and alot of other brands, but I have used most of the brands I've mentioned above (mostly at work).
