decent laptop?

Q: im about to start highschool and im saving up for a laptop i was wondering what kind of laptop i should get: Sony Acer Gateway Dell? <-- i dont really like the bulky design. ==; hp? i really prefer Sony and i found a pretty decent one too but i wanted to make sure and see if it was what i really wanted (at circuit city) i know that it should have: 1GB RAM 150GB + HARDRIVE (bigger the better) Intel is best. i dont know the difference between intel and turion though..o-o? what i want my laptop to be able to do is internet/instant messaging word processing occasional games when i get bored. [: not much. i'd like for the laptop to last too for around 4 years. and i can spend up to 800 dollars? any thing in mind? mucho thanks. [:

A: Sony sure are nice and have a good batt time http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-VAIO-VGN-CR320E-L-14-1-Widescreen-Laptop-Radiant-Blue-VGNCR320EL/sem/rpsm/oid/201231/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Don't get the circuit city warranty. Call sony direct and ask them before buying how much for the warranty. Trust me much better and faster service. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T GET DELL LOWER NOTEBOOKS . Most of them end up burning the power charging area in the motherboard which will cost $$ if it happens after your warranty. This can be found in Dells own forums.
