Securing files on a laptop?

Q: How can i secure my files on a Gateway MT6705 notebook pc running windows vista? I already have my user created which requires a password, but what else can be done to ensure i'm the only one who has access to the information on the hard drive. I've heard of a BIOS password, but aren't sure what it does or how to set it, does anybody have any suggesstions?

A: You set the BIOS password by going into "Setup" when you turn on your laptop. Probably by pressing F2, F1, or F10.. sometimes even "Del". It should tell you on the screen when you turn on the system. In your BIOS Setup, you can find a place to set a password. Good luck..
