Q: So my brother bought a brand new toshiba laptop 14" screen turion, paid $700 at best buy. anywho, they offered Extended Warranty for $150? more. I know he is very careful with his stuff but he does use it ALL THE TIME. Like its practically on all day and night (except sleep and work, works P/T). So my question is, should I get ext warranty w/best buy in fear the laptop will not "last long"? How long are laptops designed to last? I have the thought they dont last as long as a desktop computer. I have 14 days from purchase date but the $150 or $250 ?? is a lot of money. i think the guy from Best Buy said there are options of ext warranty one for $150 and another for $250 for extra 2 or 3 yrs?
A: Laptops will run for as long as you take care of them. Also, computers don't get old and "wear out" like a car does. A computer is only as old as the software it runs. Don't get the extended warranty crap. It's just another income stream for Best Buy. The benefit to you is minimal at best.
