A: Avoid Dell. I've had terrable luck with their hardware breaking (or design flaws) and support really stinks. I'm happy with my HP computer, it's a dv2000t (intel version of the 2000). I assume you mean college? Ask the college what they recommend/require and if you know your major ask that department if they require/suggest a certain computer. I had one university that said I would need a Tablet PC for my major.
