Q: Every time i try to click on a program, it say: Open with: Recommended programs: Adobe FireFox Other Programs: etc, etc I cant get ANYTHING to work. I tried to system restore but it does the same thing. I know I have a virus! What should I do to get rid of this 'Open With' thing!?
A: First check to see what the default action of the Icon is. Right Click the folder, Is "Open with " the default action (The one in bold) ? The way to rectify this problem is to open up the registry (start - run - regedit) navigate to , [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Directory\ shell] With "shell" highlighted, change the "default" data to "none" on the right-side. then go here:- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Drive\ shell] With "shell" highlighted, change the "default" data to "none" on the right-side. The folder icons should get back to normal again. Hope it helps.
