Question about wireless internet!!?

Q: I'm kind of confused about the whole wireless internet thing!! If someone could please explain how that works it that would be awesome!! Like do you just have to go to a place like McDonalds, or the library? Or do companies like Verizon offer it.... and this is for a laptop by the way... I'm just a little confused on how it works! Thanks

A: There are lots of places that offer free wireless access to the Internet. Libraries are free. There are also a lot of places that charge you for access, McDonald's is one of them. Check here for free places: http://www.wififreespot.com/ Verizon does offer a plan. You buy a card (Cost varies) from them but you pay $60 per month for access. Works kinda like a phone and you have access wherever your cell phone would have service. If you already have Internet access at home, Cable or DSL, which is high speed (Broadband) you might already be wireless if the provider gave you wireless equipment. If not you would have to purchase a wireless router. Depending on speed and brand you can get them for $50 -$75.
