Q: Is it better to go to the Dell website and build a laptop yourself, customizing it, but spending hundreds more, or go to Bestbuy/Circuitcity, etc. to purchase a laptop for less, but 1 or 2 things you want are missing?
A: Great point, and by the way I do like the Dell Configurator, but I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck. First choice is www.tigerdirect.com or www.newegg.com take a look at your budget and try to future proof your pc, so look for 2 or more gb of ram, definitely a dvd burner, look for video ports like firewire/or composite/s-video. How about a media center do it all TV Tuner and Remote for output to larger tv. Wireless is built in nowadays and bluetooth is rapidly growing. My personal experience is you'll either get budget, low-spec system, or you'll be lucky and get a rarity...I got a badass Dell through my local Costco. Don't be afraid to look, compare, make the Staff explain the differences. You can read reviews on any system just about.
