Q: are toshiba computers reliable? and are they any good? what do you think of this one? http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1510570589.1210539152@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckadeedfmlhdjcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&sku=302396
A: They're as reliable as any other brand really. The company isn't a good benchmark of whether or not the computer is reliable so much as the components inside are. If possible it's a good idea to see what kind of hard drive manufacturer, RAM manufacturer, video card manufacturer, and motherboard manufacturer supplied the parts for the computer. This way you can check to see if a model has a crappy part inside that you should avoid. This is one way to help ensure the long-term health of the computer. I work at a computer shop so my other recommendation is to do some preventative maintenance. ALWAYS plug your computer, monitor, speakers (hell, any electronics worth anything) into a surge protector. Run anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall software to keep the computer running malware free. Defrag and chkdsk every once in a while. And every once in a while blow out the dust from the inside of your computer. Following the above steps will add a surprising amount of life to your computer.
