Computer speed problem?

Q: I've got two computers. One has a few hundred gigabytes of storage space and the other has 8.62gb (it's really old). Is there any way I can get the old one to run as fast as the new one? Because it's getting ridiculous.

A: Afraid not quite as fast as the new one, here's why: Computers at that time had DDR connections for RAM (the memory your PC uses to handle stuff, like, you start a program: 1st the computer uses RAM to access the program, and then it uses the RAM to run all of the new data real time, RAM = Random-Access Memory) You can, however make your old computer more powerful. You can increase RAM by buying the old "DDR Ram Sticks", Or, by using more of your Hard Drive, as "Paging File" [go to->start->control panel->system->advanced->performance->advanced->paging file (click the "manage" button, or something similar, there you will see the current free space, and current allocated hard drive)] Put paging file to a maximum of about 1giga byte. 2nd, your computer would have around 533-700+ mega hertz (this is your processor, it REALLY hinders most things you can do, and there is NO way to increase it, except by clicking the Slant --> - <-- While while your computer is booting up, only do this if you're a nerd and/or experienced at "clocking" PC's) 3rd your Video card might be outdated (there are very few old models, but they're cheap, i suggest "Ati Radeon", ask the stores for old models and tell them that your computer does not support VGA but is rather old) 4th, well, your computer is old, so I'd run a complete re-formatting of it's systems to clean it up.. 5th your Hard Drive Space is very very limited, I suggest buying a new one as a "Slave Drive", unless you have opened up your PC's more than 10 times and really know your way around, for example knowing where RAM and Graphic Drivers go. I'd also suggest getting someone else to do all of the above. Good luck! Hope I helped out =) (Running on a 6year old computer that he had to rip open more than enough to fix)
