Q: Could a 250W power supply unit handle the following... amd athlon 64 x2 5400 cpu onboard 7 series graphics standard hdd and cd-w/dvd drive Yes? No? ty all for prompt answers! my conclusion: i will not waste my time trying to push a 250w psu and instead will buy @ least a 350W unit to avoid instability. the calculator and other info has helped a lot.
A: It should handle it but yes you would be pushing it's limits. Worse case scenerio would be that the power supply would go bad and need to be replaced later. You won't hurt anything to try it other than the power supply and a little 250W supply is not much good for anything else anyway so you wouldn't be losing anything to try it. BTW, wattage and Amperage go hand in hand, they are directly related to each other, so I don't know where the first poster is coming from.
