Q: I thought I could purchase more memory. Or would it be better to just get a new computer all together. Especially since everything is suppose to go to vista. It's all a bit confusing for me.. I bought it around 2002. 192MB of Ram is what it show I'm currently running:(
A: In general, for a computer as old as yours, it pays to get a new computer. Many things change over time and entirely new features and capabilities are built in. Newer computers have slots for better video cards, for better CPUs, faster USB, more room for total ram and better and faster motherboards. The amount of memory that you have is far too little for XP.. The bare minimum is 512k and 1 gb for decent performance. Your motherboard may not support enough. Go to www.crucial.com and run their utility to see how much you can install. Ram is the most crucial item for performance and if you get enough you will have the basics.
