Q: I have a HP Pavilion a815n desktop with 512mb (two 256mb sticks) of memory running Windows XP. I want to add more but I'm not sure how much more. I can either add two 512mb or two 1gb sticks of memory for a total of 1.5gb or 2.5gb. How much would be best? Is 2.5gb too much? All I use the computer for is basically internet, listening to music and printing letters. I want to speed up the start time and not have it bog down when I do all 3 at once. Any suggestions??? A: I run XP with 1 gig of ram. I only use my PC to surf the web and listen to music as well. It runs fine. Having extra memory will not hurt. I doubt it would get used. Currently, I have 3 web pages open, I'm playing Live My Life by 2Pac, and a working on a Word document. My total memory used is 576 MB. My PC is running fine.
