Q: I was going through my computer cleaning out things I didn't think I needed. I then went to restart my computer to see if I had made things any faster and my computer got stuck on a screen that said 'NTLDR missing...press ctr alt delete to restart'. Naturally I went to the internet on my brothers computer to find out how to fix the error. I followed a guide on how to repair windows xp because I figured I must've accidentally deleted something vital while cleaning out my PC. I followed the guide but got stuck because in the guide it went to a screen for repair, but mine wanted to do a full fledged installation. Since I didn't want to install I aborted and gave up for the night. However when I woke up this morning I found that my computer couldn't even get as far as the 'NTLDR missing' error, it would simply get stuck on the black screen with all the Microsoft/windows copy rights. Soooo does anyone have any clue how/if I can salvage my computer? Thanks, any help is appreciated, and if any other details are needed I would be more than happy to provide them :) Oh yeah I forgot to include that when I'm booting from the cd I get the message 'press any button to boot from cd...' but when I press any button nothing happens =/ Thanks for the help though, sounds like I have a fix if i can boot from the CD again! Okay, I' m on the repair console. However now I'm getting an error that 'fdisk /mbr' is not a recognized command. When I type it into the console it looks as follows: 'C:\>fdisk /mbr'. Then I get the error that it isn't recognized.... Any clue what's going on here?
