First time OVerclocking?

Q: Just overclocked for the first time, Q6600 on an EVGA 750i SLI FTW and the other thing that seems to change is the voltages. when i load CPU-Z it says my multiplier is x6 instead of x9 and all the other values are default or lower. changed the values for my FSB, RAM, CPU and voltages, not sure any of them took effect.

A: your computer might have gone into a safe mode to keep you from frying your processor. do not get too crazy when overclocking. try to up your clockspeeds a little at a time then adjust your voltages just enough to keep things stable. you also want to pay close attention to your temperatures. i overclocked that processor on that exact motherboard to 3.0ghz without changes in voltage and no significant temperature changes. just upped the fsb to 1333mhz
