Q: What might I have done to cause this and can someone please help?
A: If you did a disk cleanup and checked the box for the hibernation folder then it deleted the folder and you would have lost the hibernation option. Go into disk cleanup and see if your hibernation file folder shows up. If it doesn't someone deleted it doing a clean up. The hibernation folder is the same size as your installed ram so someone may of deleted it to free up space on the hard drive.. I never use hibernation because it frags the hard drive so I got rid of the folder in disk cleanup and lost the hibernation option but it warned me that I would.
