Does Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHZ Processer need a Heatsink?

Q: I am getting a heatsink for it tommorrow but I want to install Windows tonight. Will it be ok to use the computer without a heatsink on it or will it burn the processor out?

A: Yes, it needs a heatsink, or it will burn the processor out. Please be sure to properly install the processor before attempting to turn the system on for the first time. Do not even turn it on to access the system bios settings, let alone install an OS. Also, though this isn't in your question, be sure you create a floppy or thumb drive with your Sata drivers or any Sata hard disk you install will revert to IDE. These drivers must be installed during the OS installation. If it is XP you need to use the F6 approach, if Vista, just click the appropriate option when it is presented to add additional drivers. Then, pop in the floppy, or insert the USB thumb drive with the drivers on it. Once the drivers are installed you can go into the bios and make sure the Sata option is enabled. Good luck and have nice day.
