Q: my dad needs a computer. it will be for very basic use. nothing much more than word processing and web surfing. we are trying to decide between a mac mini or a cheap pc bundled with the monitor, which will run about $600. With the mini, he will have to buy a monitor and I don't know os x as well as windows, so I won't be able to help him that much, since he hardly knows how to use a computer but needs one for writing some books. The main thing we need here is reliability, but we would like to keep the price under $700 or 800. I hear extremely cheap pcs have cheap hardware and only last a year or two, but i may be wrong. this computer needs to last for a long time and needs to be easy to use. thanks in advance ps. i am extremely smart with computers ( i build them), so be specific in your answers, please. ( i need details)
A: well if you knwo windows, and want to keep the PC chepa then go with a Windows PC. yeah chepa PC's come wiht chepa harware, though aslongas you dont thrash the PC with lods of gmaing, n lettign it clog up wiht Dust it shoudl run for a while. as a slight alternative the Asus Eee Box, came out last week, its dirt cheap, is built with jsut web browsing and word procesing in mind, and looks pretty nice to boot.so that might be a worthwhile purchase.
