Q: i want to know what is the best desktop i can build [either a dell, gateway,or hp] on a budget of about 700. i want to be able to play games on it and dont know what is needed. i want atleast a intel core 2 due proccesor and 2 gigs of ram. also what else effectes how the computor runs.does the video card, optical drive,operating system, hard drive, or modem effect anything. im mostly asking whats the best bang for my buck. wich brand is best for gaming and wich setup is best for gaming for around 700$
A: For $700 I suggest you build a Dell Inspiron 530. Why? The Inspiron 530 from Dell is a great desktop for performance and price, they start at like $400 and you can upgrade all the parts you need. I suggest you get a fast processor and 2Gb of RAM for these would be the two main pieces of hard-ware that determine your desktop speed. A video-card would be the third, what it does is help the operating system and games/applications buffer frames and graphics better. Vista is a resource hungry operating system but if you get a tower that can handle it, Vista is great, really!
