My parent's hard drive fan

Q: A couple months ago we dropped off the family computer at a shop so they can defragment the desktop/harddrive, and to shape it up a bit. The reason for this was every hour it would shut down for "power saving" because the fan was overheating. For a month it worked fine, but that problem has returned. How can it be fixed?

A: You got defrocked, not defraged. There's not reason to pay to have your HDs defragmented; it's a simple task done in a few minutes by right clicking each drive in My Computer and selecting tools and selecting defragment this drive. It is possible that you have your power saving mode set to turn off the computer after an hour of non-use. Right click on the Desktop, select Properties, select Screen Saver, at the bottom select Power and on that page change every answer to "never" and click OK. If your computer is really overheating then that has to be addressed by either replacing whatever fans aren't working, increasing the number or speed of your fans, or replacing your power supply if its fan isn't working.
