Q: I built my PC a while ago with a Pentium D Dual Core 3.2 ghz processor, will a Core 2 Duo 2.4 ghz be faster? (their both dual core the PD has a higher ghz but the core 2 is newer), how would the PD compare to a core 2 quad 2.4 ghz, and how would the quad compare to the core 2 duo nvm i have a PD 3.8 does that make a differencce
A: The Core lineup destroys the Pentiums. The Pentium D could be at 3.6 Hz and the Core 2 Duo @ 2.4Hz will still eat it up. The Pentium D comes no where near the Core 2 Quad. I would know; my last computer had a Pentium D 3Hz, and my current custom built computer has the C2Q. HUGE difference.
