what video card should i get, and how much would it be.

Q: I would like to play games like GTA San Andreas, the recommended system requirement is: 128( ) MB Video Card with DirectX 9 compatible drivers ("GeForce4" or better) Since it seems that computers at BestBuy and Circuit City only have integrated graphics, would you reccomend i buy the computer, then buy the graphics card? What are those slots called where i insert them, i think PCI-E or just PCI? And if the computer already comes with an integrated graphcis card, does it make any difference if i just plug in a new card? An unrelated question... the game also says it reccomends a 16x dvd-rom drive, what difference would i notice between a 16 and an 8? thanx

A: 1st you ask a lot of questions. 2nd for what you are planning on playing, an nvidea 8600gts would do you just fine. It should run you arround $80 to $150.(depends on where you buy it) 3rd There are lots of pc's at best buy that come with graphics cards installed, but it usually isn't worth buying them. When you get a pc, just make sure that it has a pci-e16x slot or better.. so yes buy the pc, then buy the graphics card. 4th Yes, installing a graphics card will take over or shut down your integrated graphics on your mobo. You might have to disable the integrated graphics in your bios. By installing a graphics card, you will free up extra memory used and it will speed up your system. 5th As for the dvd rom drive, if you are buying a new pc, you shouldn't have to worry about this. Most newer pc's will come with fast cd and dvd rom drives mainly because they are cheap. good luck with your pc and good luck being able to understand what I just wrote.
