Q: Why is it the recommendated specs for crysis are high but not that high. For high-end gamers but people who have ultra powerful cards like the nvidia gtx 280 or the ati hd 4870 can only run the game at very high with like 30 fps. When the recommendations are: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB or ATI 2900XT 512MB But the 280gtx and hd 4870 blow those cards out of the water why can even the highest end systems with high end quad cores and high end video cards still not play the game when the recomended settings are lower than what they have on there systems???? And 30 fps u cant really see much lagg but its diffrent from 60 fps where everything is basically smooth!
A: New cards like the GTX 280 and Radeon 4870 were just introduced last month, they wreen't available when Crysis hit store shelves. Therefore they aren't listed under recommended specs. But I agree, something higher than an 8800GTS should have been listed. Crysis is currently the monster of all games- it's almost impossible to play on high settings without at least $1000 invested between the CPU and video card(s).
