One my My RAM is not working...?

Q: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1705 Above is the link to the motherboard that I have right now. As you can see, it has 3 socket, and I have ONE 1GB, and TWO 512MB. That should be 2GB right? ...But somehow my motherboard indicates two of them, and they think I have 1.5GB of RAM. I tried switching the RAM around to see if the RAM is broken or the socket is broken. I highly doubted to myself that the Socket is broken, but as i tested out, somehow the third socket was the one that was not working. Do you think is there any way to fix this problem? Thanks. Yeah I guess I have to buy myself a new one, or simply just get another 1GB RAM. But I'm Not sure if 2GB is enough for me. Also, The RAM type should be the same. I bought the 1GB pack from Corsair (the Value Pack, I think...). neodracolith: So doead that mean that I should replace my 1GB to another one that's compatible? If yes, how do I determine which one is right for my motherboard?

A: 1) Using different sizes of RAM is risky. If you want 2GB get another 1 GB (preferably identical to the first) and put it in the second working socket. 2) If the socket is broken then there are choices: (1) If it's under warranty ship it back after contacting whoever the computer company has chosen to do repair work. (2) If it's not under warranty, since the socket cannot be repaired you will have to replace the motherboard. It would be a lot less expensive to just shove 1 GB in the working socket that has a working 512 GB.
