Q: I presently don't have a recovery disk for my computer. Its a few years old (Dell) and doesn't therefore cut CDs...can I create a 'recovery file' rather than a disk and save that on something (eg compact flash) and then cut a disk on another computer? Also, if the HD dies and, (after getting it fixed or a new computer) I use the recovery disk will everything be restored or just programmes/system set up? Thanks
A: You should get a new (C:) drive, which can burn to DVD-R and perhaps DVD-RW, the price for them isn't that bad nowdays. You could use a memory stick to make a recovery disk, but it all depends if your system files can actually fit on it. Other than when the time comes to restore your PC it doesn't work.
