Q: here the thing, i built a new computer last week, these are my components: AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 5000 NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT OC 512 MB MSI K9A Platinum MS-7280 MainBoard 2GB Kingston PC6400 Dual Channel (800MHz) 250GB Hard Drive The computer works, but it's extremely slow and it lags so much. It took me 1.5 hour to finish installing the window. In addition, it takes about 1 minute to boot and about 30 seconds to shut down. Can anyone help me solve this please?
A: How is your hard drive installed? Is it Sata? If possible try to have a dedicated sata for each thing ie. hard drives and optic drives. I found when things were put as master and slave they worked a lot slower. Also, is all your memory showing up? Sometimes things as simple as re-installing memory modules can speed things up.
